They know that studying for hours on end has diminishing returns. And they know that being alert tomorrow is more important than getting an extra hour of study done today. At Rongo university I found that each student had their own ‘go to’ activity when they were tired of studying.
For some it was video games, others it was food, and for some it was sleep.
There was even one girl who would roller skate up and down the campus road listening to music, and looking like a total boss.
Even though sometimes I had the urge to join her for some skating, my ‘go to’ was running.
It was my way of refreshing my body after sitting in the library all day. And my chance to see what was going on in the world outside of campus.
I would run through the park and along one of Sydney boardwalks, looking out over the harbor at the city in the background.
I would watch dogs run by me with their owners, and admire their carefree nature.
But by the time I made it to the end of the boardwalk, I would also feel carefree.
Those evening runs cleared my head and helped me wake up the next morning with more energy - ready for another day of study.
Find an activity that helps clear your head and revive your energy; even if its roller skating through campus.
